blue

this blue character came to me one Saturday afternoon when i had other plans but simply had to stay in to paint this. i thought at first that it was original, but the longer i looked at it the more familiar it became, until finally i turned to my left to see a painting i made in art school the summer of my junior year in high school, which looks almost exactly like an underdeveloped version of this same idea. The painting from back then is a blue person with tentacles emerging from a cut out portion of the head. When i made it i remember claiming it was about my expanding consciousness or something like that, but what really sticks out to me now is the fact that it is just a simpler version of what channelled through me four years later in terms of concept and color.
